Students are provided with a wide range of fundamental principles relating to industry practices and procedures, including occupational health and safety, repairs, testing, and inspections of automotive mechanical components. Students will be taught to service, repair, and diagnose faults in motor vehicles weighing up to 4.5 tonnes and are also taught how to diagnose, service, and repair faults in light vehicle engines, transmission, suspension, steering, brake, electrical systems, and components. The structure of the course gives students a sound understanding of the vehicles’ construction, component identification, and operating principles.
This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to perform advanced diagnostic operations in the automotive retail, service and repair environment. The Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis provides advanced training for automotive technicians who want to further develop their diagnostic and technical skills. Those undertaking Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis are required to have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring autonomous work within a defined range of exercise instruction situations and activities. Qualification outcomes will depend on the elective grouping chosen and may include providing exercise instruction for group, aqua or gym programs. Work may be undertaken in locations such as gyms, fitness facilities, pools and community facilities.
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions within the fitness industry, including working independently in a broad range of settings such as within fitness centres, gyms, pools, community facilities, and in open spaces. Those with this level of competency will be expected to train individual clients on a one-on-one basis and may include older clients and children, and will have the ability to plan, conduct, and evaluate exercise training, provide leadership and guidance to clients and other staff, and possibly deal with unpredictable situations. Those undertaking Certificate IV in Fitness are required to have completed a Certificate III in Fitness qualification.
