    If you want to work on the front lines of environmental protection in either the government or commercial sphere, then one of CIT's Environmental Monitoring and Technology qualifications is the right choice for you. At the Certificate IV level, you will develop the skills and knowledge to collect and analyse a range of environmental data as an assistant to laboratory or field studies, as well as the ability communicate and present environmental information to others.

    If you progress to diploma-level study, you will develop the skills and knowledge required to be able to apply a range of methods and technologies to conduct environmental sampling, testing and monitoring in most industry sectors. Additionally, you will learn to assist environmental scientists, engineers and planners with site assessment, minimising environmental impacts of processes and work on the remediation and rehabilitation of sites.

    The Certificate III covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a limited range of laboratory operations across all industry sectors.

    If you want to be skilled to perform a more specialised range of techniques for a medical pathology career, Certificate IV is for you. The course will qualify you to perform biological procedures.

    The global fitness industry is worth over 75 billion dollars and continues to grow every year. Get your piece of the action with a quality qualification that allows you to register with Fitness Australia as a Personal Trainer, as well as to work in a variety of settings including gyms, fitness facilities, pools, community facilities and in outdoor environments.

    Foundation skills and experiences include working in a range of exercise instruction situations, including group exercise, writing gym programs and supervising exercise environments. Advanced study allows students to perform a variety of activities independently in a fitness setting. You will gain experience within a range of exercise situations focusing on programming, exercise prescription and personal training.

    Students benefit from CIT’s extensive on-site fitness training facilities including a state-of-the-art gym with modern equipment, as well as access to Canberra’s many public spaces including its expansive public parks – many of which allow you to train on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.

    This program includes the following placement:

    Certificate III: Unpaid, 20 hours/week (9 weeks) at the CIT Fit & Well gym
    Certificate IV: Unpaid, 20 hours/week (9 weeks) at CIT Fit & Well gym, plus one-on-one training of gym clients.

    This qualification is suitable if you wish to pursue a career in the range of occupations associated with the hospitality industry in areas of commercial cookery. The qualification gained opens a world of opportunities for cooks and kitchen hands. The types of positions that can be sought at a management level (after some operational experience) include kitchen manager, chef, or small business operator. Graduates can expect to work with people from all over the world and see and experience a vast array of food and preparation techniques. Learning pathways: on successful completion of this course, graduates may consider further study at a higher tertiary level within the vocational education and training sector. The course duration is 40 weeks inclusive of 48 service periods in a commercial kitchen.

    Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery

    This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who have a supervisory or team leading role in the kitchen. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems. This qualification provides a pathway to work in various kitchen settings, such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, cafeterias, and coffee shops. Individuals may enter this course with limited or no vocational experience and without a lower level qualification. However, it is strongly recommended that individuals undertake lower level qualifications, and/ or gain industry experience prior to entering the qualification. The course duration is 25 weeks inclusive of 48 service periods in a commercial kitchen.
